SAN JOSE, Calif. (March 26, 2007) – San Jose successfully hosted its seventh NCAA championship event since 1996 over the weekend when UCLA emerged from the three-game West Regional to advance to the Men’s Division I Final Four.
HP Pavilion at San Jose was the scene of a Thursday doubleheader, which drew 18,049 fans to see Kansas defeat Southern Illinois 61-58 and UCLA down Pittsburgh 64-55. Saturday, before 18,102 fans, UCLA eliminated Kansas 68-55. All three games were nationally televised by CBS Sports.
San Jose and host institution San Jose State will continue their relationship with the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship in 2010 when HP Pavilion is the venue for six first- and second-round games in the tournament.
